Mason appointed Chief Operating Officer

Ian Mason, the Director of World Class Operations, has been appointed British Swimming Chief Operating Officer effective immediately.

In his new role Ian will support the Chief Executive in providing strategic leadership and operational development of British Swimming to ensure the long term aims and objectives of the organisation and its sports are achieved. He will also continue to oversee all aspects of the World Class departments.

The new role, confirmed by the British Swimming Board last week, will see Ian providing guidance and leadership to British Swimming’s Senior Management Team in terms of resource allocation, risk and change management while promoting world class behaviours. 

In addition, Ian will closely assist the Chief Executive to drive efficiencies and best practice while achieving and maintaining the highest professional standards across the organisation.

With over 10 years of working for British Swimming, Ian was previously a member of the British Swimming and Sport Scotland Boards, and was also Chairman of Scottish Swimming for a decade.

The Board also confirmed the change of job title for Ash Cox who now becomes the Director of Legal effective immediately.
