The Qualifying Window for the British Summer Championships and the Home Nation summer meets is now up and running, and will continue until 28th May 2018.
The Summer Championships and the three home nation summer meets continue to form part of the broader Performance Pathway Strategy aimed at supporting the UK’s junior swimming talent on their journey towards senior medal-winning international performances.
Entry to these key end of season events is by invitation only, from performances recorded in this designated Qualifying Window. The 24 top ranked swimmers in each event in each age grouping will be invited to attend the British Summer Championships, with the exception of the 800m and 1500m events where the top 18 will be invited.
Entries will be accepted from competitors registered as members of a British Swimming home nation federation (Swim England, Scottish Swimming or Swim Wales).
Home Nation Meet Choice
British Swimming are again providing an opportunity (from 1st January 2018) for athletes wishing to indicate their Home Nation choice for the end of season summer meets.
Swimmers should note that when identifying qualifiers for the Home Nations meets, the automated system used assumes that athletes wish to be ranked by the country of their ranked club.

If swimmers wish instead to be invited on the basis of their country of representation then individuals must email HNMeetChoice@swimming.org with their name, date of birth, membership number, current ranked club and registered Country of Representation, and then clearly state their wish to be ranked by their Country of International Representation in relation to the Home Nation Summer Meets. This needs to be done no later than midnight on 1st May 2018. No changes will be made beyond this point.
Interim Rankings Lists
This year, and for the first time, we will be publishing weekly rankings list once the Qualifying Window opens. A final draft rankings list will be produced on 1st June, once the Window has closed. This final check will allow for any corrections. If you believe any of the data contained in these interim lists is incorrect, can you please report it by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are also asking again that athletes who do not wish to compete in events withdraw to ensure that others can be invited to the British Summer Championships and respective Home Nation summer meets. The final definitive list of summer meet entries will be formalised on 8th June 2018, with invites to follow.
If you wish to opt out of the invite list, can you please email HNMeetChoice@swimming.orgThe 2018 British Summer Championships will be held from 24th to 29th July at Ponds Forge in Sheffield – more details of the event can be found here.
