Gold for Huskisson in Hoorn

The second day of competition at the LEN European Open Water Championships in Hoorn, the Netherlands saw a further two medals won by British athletes including Gold for Danielle Huskisson.

The day began with the Women’s 5km race and saw Huskisson fight off a tough field including 2015 World bronze medallist Finnia Wunram of Germany to take gold and the continental title.

The Stirling-based swimmer was joined on the podium by Wunram in silver and the host nation favourite Sharon Van Rouwendaal finished third to take bronze.

Caleb Hughes secured Great Britain’s third medal of the Championships with bronze in the Men’s 5km race.

Hughes concluded his race behind Federico Vanelli of Italy who claimed silver and Kirill Abrosimov of Russia claimed the gold.
