The British junior team continued their impressive run in Hungary on the penultimate night of the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships adding a further three medals to their tally.
Tom Derbyshire won his second medal of the championships as he sealed a silver medal in the Men’s 800m Freestyle.
Derbyshire followed up his 1500m continental title with another impressive swim to touch home ahead of Germany’s Thore Bermel who took bronze and behind gold medallist Victor Johansson of Sweden.
“I've never raced an 800m before so I'm delighted to win a medal. Obviously I had confidence from my racing this week that I could put in a decent performance. I just had to focus and go through the same process,” said Derbyshire after he collected his medal.
Plymouth-based Laura Stepehens delivered a strong swim and powerful final lap to secure the final podium position in the Women’s 100m Butterfly.
Stephens secured bronze as she joined Petra Barocsai of Hungary who claimed silver and Polina Egorova of Russia who went home with gold, on the podium.

The GBR team closed the session with more medal success as the Mixed 4x100m Medley relay team won Bronze.
The team of Freya Anderson, Emily large, David Murphy and Elliot Clogg joined the teams from Russia who took silver and Italy who won gold for the final medal ceremony of the night.
large said afterwards, "'For me, this week was all about experiencing the atmosphere at this level and executing my race plans as best I can. It's been amazing and the support from the British team has been unbelievable".
Day four’s medal haul brings the GBR total for the European Junior Swimming Championships so far to 15 including five gold, three silver and seven bronze.
The session also saw a further four athlete’s progress from semi-finials into finals tomorrow:

- Tazmin Pugh – Women’s 100m Backstroke
- Ciara Schlosshan – Women’s 200m IM
- Abbie Wood – Women’s 200m IM
- David Murphy – Men’s 100m Breaststroke
