The men’s 200m Freestyle heats were the last event up on the final day of the British Swimming Championships and with only eight spaces available in the final the heats proved to be as tense as expected.
Duncan Scott (University of Stirling) snatched the top spot after his swim in the concluding race of the morning’s heat session in the 200m Freestyle. After claiming his debut British title earlier in the week in the 100m Freestyle Scott will be hungry for success in tonight’s final.
World Champion James Guy (Millfield School) and Robbie Renwick (University of Stirling) join Scott in tonight’s 200m Freestyle showdown.
After claiming her second British title of 2016 Siobhan-Marie O’Connor (National Centre Bath) returned to the pool this morning to qualify fastest for tonight’s 100m Breaststroke final.
Corrie Scott (University of Edinburgh) ranks second after the heats to line up in lane five this evening and City of Cardiff swimmer Chloe Tutton qualifies third fastest.
Double European Games Champion Luke Greenbank (Cockermouth) delivered a strong morning swim to control his heat and post the top time which places him in lane four of tonight’s 200m Backstroke final.
Joseph Patching (Plymouth Leander) and Joseph Hulme (Bath University) progress through to the final in second and third respectively.
National Centre Loughborough swimmer Rachael Kelly displayed form in the heats of the Women’s 100m Butterfly to book herself top spot as she looks to defend her title.
She’ll be joined by 2015 British Championships finalists Jemma Lowe (National Centre, Bath) and Alys Thomas (Swansea Aquatics).
