The British Summer Championships 2022 will move a stroke closer from Monday (16th May) when invites to compete at July's meet begin to be sent out.
Returning to its full format for the first time in three years, the British Summer Championships will take place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield from 22nd-28th July 2022.
Due to the large number of swimmers set to compete, increased by the splitting of the 17/18 age group into separate events for 17-year-olds and 18-year-olds, an extra competition day (22nd July) has been added to the schedule to fully accommodate the size of the meet and ensure this highly-anticipated end-of-season competition opportunity for as many athletes as possible.
With the qualifying window (which ran from 11th March - 8th May) now closed, the initial invite list for the competition will be created on Monday and distributed to the top 24-ranked swimmers across each event in each age grouping, except for the 800m and 1500m events, where the top 18 will be invited.
Following the invites being issued, there will be a short window of 14 days for swimmers to accept their initial invites through the entry system, live from Monday HERE. If swimmers have not entered the event by 5pm on 30th May 2022, invites will be passed down to the next most highly-ranked swimmer to fill the place.
If swimmers receive an invite on 16th May for the British Summer Championships and want to compete at them, it is imperative that entries are confirmed by 5pm, 30th May 2022.
Once the above process is completed, new invites will be issued to fill any remaining places - and invites to the Home Nation Summer Meets will also be sent out at that point.
As per the entry pack, entries for para-swimming and relay events will open from Friday 3rd June.
