16 Aug 2016

Jack Laugher has progressed to the final of the 3m Springboard with him returning to action at 10pm BST.

Laugher made a strong start to the semi-final with a score of 86.70 for his Front 2 ½ Somersaults 2 Twists piked.

He scored lower in rounds two and five and moved down through the ranks.

He qualified in 12th place with a score of 389.40 and afterwards said, "“It is really difficult conditions, and there is a lot of pressure at the Olympics, everyone feels it.

"With the outside conditions and the wind of yesterday, I think it can rattle through people. I am just lucky to have done all six dives and very lucky to have made it in.

“Starting in first place is absolutely brilliant, it means I can apply pressure to the field. I have started in first a few times, it is nothing new and hopefully I can go out there and smash it.”

Jamaican diver Yona Knight-Wisdom continues to make history, after being only the second ever diver to represent his country. He misses out on automatic qualification into the Men's 3m final but is the second reserve diver.
