30 May 2025

Twelve British athletes will take part in competition across 2nd-5th June at the 2025 European Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships in Funchal, Madeira.

Previously incorporated within the multi-discipline European Aquatics Championships, or in 2023 as part of the third European Games – the first edition to include mixed gender team competition – these championships are the first ever stand-alone artistic swimming edition.

Hosted by Portugal at Funchal, the island of Madeira’s capital, Great Britain’s 12-strong athlete cohort are entered across seven events. Ranjuo Tomblin enters the championships as the reigning Men’s Solo Free gold medallist, and will individually contest both this and the Men’s Solo Technical event in which he took silver at Belgrade 2024.

Tomblin will also team up with Holly Hughes in the Mixed Duet Free – with the pair having impressively combined earlier this year for gold in Paris on the first stop of the World Aquatics World Cup series – while additionally partnering Olympic silver medallist Isabelle Thorpe in the Mixed Duet Tech for the first time on the international stage.

Loya Cenkci is entered into the Women’s Solo Technical event, giving the 17-year-old further opportunity to expand her senior competition experiences after two appearances on the World Cup series so far in 2025. Cencki and Hughes will also form part of a young and developing Tech Team along with Robyn Ashworth, Katherine Boitsidis, Jessica Hinxman, Sophie Rowney, Magdalena Townsend and Cara Zeidler.

Britain’s opening performance of the European championships will come from Eve Young and Robyn Swatman in the Women’s Tech Duet on Monday 2nd June – with the pair aiming to build upon the new routine they first showcased at the Paris leg of the World Cup series.

The 2025 European Aquatics Artistic Swimming Championships has attracted a total of 136 athlete entries from 21 countries, and running alongside this the Comen Cup competition for Youth athletes (13-15 years old) which will provide an exciting opportunity for a trio of British athletes - Lola Huett, Frankie Klym and Imogen Sutton.

Full schedule and results can be found through the European Aquatics website, with streaming available on the Eurovision Sport platform.
