GB Duet Free finish eighth

11 May 2016

British Synchro Duet pairing of Katie Clark and Olivia Federici returned to the pool to compete in the final of the Duet Free, finishing eighth.

The pair improved their score from yesterday’s prelims by 1.7 to close the event with a score of 81.4333 for their snakes inspired routine.

Clark said, “We’re really happy that we managed to improve our score, we know we had a lot of things to improve on and refine from our prelim swim yesterday.

“We went away and we spent the time making the changes and so we’re really with the better score,” added Clark.

Clark and Federici demonstrated a notable improvement in their artistic impression within the routine and were pleased to come back stronger to the London pool.

And having qualified a quota place for Great Britain in the Duet event at the Olympics the pair are looking forward to continuing preparations for that and the rest of the season.

“It’s been great having the European Aquatics Championships here in London and an awesome opportunity to perform in front of a home audience,” said Federici

“After London we are going back to Majorca for another training camp with multi Olympic medallist Andrea Fuentes ahead of travelling to America for the US Open, and then our focus turns preparations for Rio.”

Russia continued to dominate in the Synchro events at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in London, 2015 World Champions Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina won gold (96.9000).

Silver went to Ukrainian pair Lolita Anansova and Anna Voloshyna (93.333) and bronze was claimed by Linda Cerruti and Costanza Ferro of Italy (91.2667).
