Dan Goodfellow has shown his true potential through 2016 by coming back from a potential career ending injury to standing on the podium at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
He had 18 months out of the water before being partnered with Tom Daley at the end of 2015. The pair went on to qualify a spot for the Olympics at the World Cup and then won medals at every competition they competed at before hitting the Olympic stage in August. Dan and Tom were in a tight final and saw the results coming down to the final dive and it was after the scores flashed up on the screen that they saw their result as Olympic bronze medallists.
The winner of the Diving Athlete of the Year award is decided by our panel of judges and will announced during the British Swimming Awards in London on 5 November.
