Team GB’s Tonia Couch finished the Women’s 10m platform final in twelfth place after taking to the boards for a second time on day 13 of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Couch progressed from a shaky semi-final to qualify in ninth for the final and faced a talented field of divers in the five round final at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre.

Her opening two dives saw improved scores compared to the day’s earlier semi-final.

Couch’s strongest and highest scoring dive came in the fourth round, a Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists Piked collected 72.00 points.

A couple of missed entries meant she slipped down the rankings and concluded the Olympic final in 12th overall and a score of 323.70.

Couch said afterwards:  “I know I can do a lot better but I’ve made the final which was my main aim today so I have to take something good away from that and I can definitely look back positively on my synchro experience as well.

“I wanted to have fun in that final but it’s just a shame it wasn’t my best performance. I finished with a great dive though so I guess that was good to do."
