Daley dives in to Rio semi-final

Rio 2016 10m Synchro bronze medallist Tom Daley returned to the Maria Lenk to start his individual campaign and cruised into tomorrow’s semi-final in top spot.

Daley executed all six of his prelim dives excellently to ensure his comfortable progression on to the next stage of competition.

The opening two rounds saw him placed third and then second respectively behind the reigning Olympic Champion David Boudia (USA) and Chinese diver Chen Aisen.

His third round dive, an Armstand Back 3 Somersaults Piked scored 96.25 and saw him take control of the prelim of the Men’s 10m Platform event.

His highest scoring dive came in the fourth round, a triple figure sum of 103.60 recorded for a Front 4½ Somersaults Tucked. 

Daley closed the prelims with a total score of 571.85.
