Dresden medals for junior divers

Britain’s junior divers won six medals at the Dresden Youth Diving Meet. Emily Martin picked up the team’s first gold medal in the Girls A Platform event, scoring 392 points, 41 ahead of Olympian Elena Wassen of Germany.

The youngest member of the squad, Callie Eaglestone also secured a gold in the Girls B 3m springboard event, having qualified for the final in third place, before improving on her heats score by 30 points to clinch the title. She also managed to qualify for the final of the 1m event, finishing 7th overall, but was only six points away from bronze medal position.

Ben Cutmore won a silver in the Boys B Platform competition with 422.65, behind Japan’s Senri Ikuma who at 13 years old scored 479.95 points.

Cutmore then picked up his second silver in the Boys B 3m Springboard, scoring 425.35, with team mate Tyler Humphrey earning himself a bronze with 423.40. The British pairing had qualified in first and second for the final, but were again pipped to the gold by Ikuma.

Humphreys also managed to pick up a second medal of the meet with a silver in the B Boys 1m.

The pair then joined forces in the Boys 3m Synchro final, but with limited time to practice together, and taking place directly after the platform final, came 11th overall.

Elsewhere in the competition Oliver Crompton finished 8th and Cameron Gammage 14th in the Boys A 3m springboard, Evie Smith finished 16th in the Girls B 3m springboard,  Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was 15th in the Girls B 1m, Joseph Pashley was 6th in the Boys B Platform and 9th in the 1m; Carla Kerr  was fourth in the Girls B Platform; Oliver Crompton ended 6th in the Boys A 1m and Holly Waxman and Emily Bearpark finished fourth in their first ever competition together in the Girls A 3m synchro. Both qualified for the Girls A 3m final, with Waxman fourth and Bearpark ninth, then in the 1m final Bearpark finished 10th with Waxman in 11th.
