At the halfway point in the competition schedule, Emily Martin and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix secure gold to cap a successful start to the LEN European Junior Diving Championships.

Martin and Spendolini-Sirieix secured the first gold of the championships for Great Britain at the close of Wednesday's session, with a Forward 21/2 Somersaults (107B) that scored 67.50 being the pick of the dives as the pair totalled 278.46 in the Girls Synchronised Platform, to secure the top spot of the podium.

With five medals for the British team so far across the opening three days of the championship, it was the quartet of Desharne Bent-Ashmeil, Cameron Gammage, Oliver Crompton and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix who kick started the positive wave of results with a silver medal in the Mixed Jump Event, after combining for a score of 290.80 on Monday afternoon.

Tuesday’s session saw the first of the individual springboard events, with Callie Eaglestone maintaining consistency after a solid opening Back 21/2 Somersaults (205C) to claim bronze in the Girls B 3m Springboard, as Desharne Bent-Ashmeil had to settle for fifth despite leading throughout the preliminaries. In the Boys B 1m Springboard Leon Baker just narrowly missed out on the podium to finish fourth.

Further medal success continued that evening via the experienced pairing of Maria Papworth and Scarlett Mew Jensen in the Girls Synchronised 3m final; they secured silver with a Forward 21/2 Somersaults 1 Twist (5152B) in their final and highest scoring dive. Papworth is to compete again in the individual event this coming Saturday with partner Mew Jensen headed home ahead of traveling on to the FINA World Aquatics Championships.

Wednesday's headlining gold was preceded with an additional bronze medal performance in the Girls A 10m Platform, as Josie Zillig edged out Pellacani (ITA) and compatriot Emily Martin (5th) with a Back 21/2 Somersaults 11/2 Twists (5253B) bringing her final third place total to 385.50. Oliver Crompton took 4th in the Boys A 1m Springboard just shy of a medal, but will have another chance to podium in both the individual and synchronised 3m Springboard this week.
