Gallantree and Reid to contest 3m medals

Rebecca Gallantree and Grace Reid continue British Diving’s strong form at the LEN European Championships both making the Women’s 3m Springboard final.

Gallantree who made her London 2016 debut and impressed with her opening dive, a Front 2 ½ Somersaults 1 twist Piked and finished the prelims in 3rd with a score of 306.60.

After the five rounds of diving Gallantree said; “It was a pretty steady prelims, there’s still quite a lot to go I think. I need to make some improvements on my second and last dive’s but pretty happy overall.

 “I’m looking to just enjoy the final and have that home crowd backing me.”

Edinburgh-based Reid also progressed through to this evening’s 3m Springboard final, she posted a points total of 300.95 and positioned herself fifth after the morning session.”

“I’m very happy, everything was quite consistent. Nothing amazing and nothing dreadful, just looking forward to getting back in the pool tonight,” said Reid

“I’m excited about the final and hoping to make my last event here in London a good one.”

“I was most happy with my fourth dive,” a Back 2 ½ Somersaults Piked, a dive Reid has been working on and she added, “For me to come away with seven’s for that is really good.”

Finishing ahead of Gallantree was Anastasiia Nedobiga of Ukraine, she posted a score of 326.25.
