Junior divers ready for Continental Challenge

A team of 18 junior divers have been named for the European Junior Championships in Rijeka, Croatia which will see mix of experienced divers and a number of athletes making their international debuts.

European Games Champion Matty Lee will compete in the 3m Synchro fresh from success at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in London.

Joining Lee will be Sheffield-based diver Jordan Houlden, who made his senior international debut earlier in the year in London and Commonwealth Games finalist Victoria Vincent.

After strong competition at the Elite Junior Diving earlier in 2016, international debuts will be made by Florence Smith and Owen Harrison. 

British Diving Talent and Development Manager Julian Bellan is exciting by his strong crop of divers as he leads the largest ever contingent for a European Juniors.

“This is the largest team to date that we have ever taken to a European Junior Champs,” said Bellan. 

“Our ambition remains as it has for the last few years to be top 2 ranked team in Europe."

“The British Juniors have had a great start to the season winning the 7 Nations in march and coming 3rd as a team in Dresden in April out of 26 Countries World Wide. 

Competition begins in Croatia on 28th June.
