Kazan to serve as warm up for World Series finale

9 May 2019

With the penultimate leg of the 2019 FINA/CNSG Diving World Series set to take place in the Russian sporting city of Kazan this weekend, three days of elite level diving will provide the perfect preparation for a British homecoming in London next week.

With spirits high in the camp after more medal success last time out in Canada, the GB divers will be hoping to springboard their way on to the Kazan podium.

Tom Daley will be looking to back up the trio of medals he claimed in Montreal, which included individual gold in the Men’s 10m Platform as well as silver medals in the 10m Synchro and Mixed 3m Synchro alongside Matty Lee and Grace Reid.

Springboard Olympic champion Jack Laugher will also continue his search for silverware, with the aim of upgrading silver to gold in the Men’s 3m event. Last time out he split the Chinese pair of Xie and Cao as he continues to progress with July’s World Championships drawing ever closer.

London-based Robyn Birch gets a call up for the final two stages of the event and will be hoping to make an impact from the 10m platform, both in Russia and when the curtain falls on the series in London in just over a week’s time.

The London leg, which takes place at the London Aquatics Centre from 17-19 May, will be the fifth and final of leg of the 2019 FINA/CNSG Diving World Series, with the overall series titles up for grabs. Tickets for that event, which is set to be a stunning spectacle, are still are available here.

You can catch all of the action from Kazan live on FINA TV, whilst there will be updates across the British Swimming social media channels throughout the weekend.
