Laugher lands gold in Beijing

Double Olympic medallist Jack Laugher claimed a second medal of the weekend as he takes Gold in the Men’s 3m Springboard at the opening leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Beijing.

Laugher’s second outing on the boards of the weekend proved successful as he made his second visit to the World Series podium.

His highest scoring dive came in the fourth round of the final, a Forward 2 ½ Somersaults 3 Twists, scoring him 99.45 points.

A final score of 554.00 sealed the victory and a second medal for the British team in the Chinese capital.

He was flanked on the podium by a pair of Chinese divers, Xie Siyi who took silver with a score of 539.15 and bronze went to Cao Yuan with a score of 510.05.

Tom Daley and Grace Reid competed in the Mixed 3m Synchro and were nudged just outside of the medals by the pair from Canada to rank fourth at the end of the final.

Kat Torrance made her individual World Series debut in the Women’s 3m Springboard final, she finished fifth with a final points total of 312.60.

The FINA/NVC Diving World Series will take place at the Chinese National Aquatics Centre in Beijing from 3 to 5 March.
