Matty Lee and Daniel Goodfellow secured bronze in the men’s 10m Synchro at their first FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Beijing.
The British pair scored over 100 points for their required dives and opened the optional rounds with an Inward 3 ½ Somersaults tucked and moved into third place after scoring 77.76.
Their best dive was the Back 3 ½ Somersaults tucked which almost scored them 80 points and set them up for their medal placing.
Lee and Goodfellow, who are 16 and 17 respectively, were competing at their first senior international competition as a synchro pair and they completed their final with a score of 387.66 for third place.
The gold medal went to the Chinese pair of Yuan Cao and Yue Lin with a total of 466.32 and silver was won by world champions Sascha Klein and Patrick Hausding (GER) with 422.70 points.
Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch finished fourth in the women’s 10m Synchro with a score of 303.18. In their first competition back since Couch dislocated her knee, they performed consistently throughout the rounds.
Also returning from injury were Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree. The pair finished seventh in the women’s 3m Synchro with a score of 284.73.
