British team strike combination silver at French Open

Britain's artistic swimmers began their FINA Artistic Swimming World Series campaign by winning a silver medal in the Paris opener over the weekend.

The team of Isabelle Thorpe, Kate Shortman, Daniella Lloyd, Cerys Larsen, Cerys Hughes, Isobel Blinkhorn, Isobel Davies, Laura Turberville, Millie Costello, Daisy Gunn and Robyn Swatman recorded a score of 82.7667 to place second behind Ukraine in the Combination Team final at the French Open.

That mirrored their result from 2019, when they again reached the second step of the podium - but they managed a 1.1-point improvement this time around.

In the Free Team showpiece, the British competitors combined to score 80.8333 points, which saw them one spot off the podium in fourth place.

Thorpe and Shortman again linked up in the Duet categories, placing fourth in the Free and fifth in the Technical events on the opening day of competition.

The World Series continues later this month in Hurghada, Egypt (27th - 29th March), with five further legs after that before the finale in Windsor, Canada in June.
