With the second leg of the inaugural FINA Champions Swim Series set to arrive in the Hungarian capital of Budapest this weekend, some of Britain’s best will take on the rest of the world.
The Duna Arena will play host to a squad
of seven from the UK, including opening leg medallists Ben Proud, Imogen Clark
and Georgia Davies. With the series kicking off in Guangzhou, China, two weeks ago Proud and Clark struck gold in the 50m Freestyle, with Loughborough University's Clark winning the breaststroke equivalent.
Joining them in the same arena as played host to the 2017 World Championships are the likes of Siobhan-Marie O’Connor and Ross Murdoch, whilst British champions Holly Hibbott and Alys Thomas are also amongst the contingent looking to build on recent performances at
the British Swimming Championships last month.
With a two-session programme including 14 individual and one relay race per day, the Champions Swim Series is an innovative concept launched by FINA in 2019 to enhance the exposure of its athletes and offer swimming fans a new and dynamic event.
