Dearing claims historic Marathon Gold

A successful weekend at the FINA World Junior Marathon Championships in Hoorn as Great Britain secure first ever medal at the competition and Alice Dearing secures gold.

A successful weekend at the World Junior Marathon Championships in Hoorn saw Great Britain secure its first ever medals at the competition with Alice Dearing taking a world title.

Loughborough-based Dearing secured a historic gold medal in the Women’s 18-19 years 10km race. She completed the course ahead of Hungary’s Nikoletta Kiss who claimed silver and Russia’s Valeriia Ermakova in bronze to top the podium.

Hector Pardoe won Great Britain’s first ever FINA World Junior Marathon medal with a bronze in the Men’s 14-15 years 5km race

Pardoe accompanied Daniil Orlov of Russia and Eric Vilaregut of Spain on the 5km podium.

The 14-16 years relay team secured a second bronze for Great Brtain in the 4x 1.25km race. Hungary won silver and Italy took gold ahead of the GBR quatet of Hector Pardoe, Leah Crisp, Phoebe Griffiths and Nathan Hughes.
