A team of ten talented junior marathon swimmers have been selected to represent Great Britain at the LEN European Junior Open Water Championships in the Czech Republic.

The Czech village of Racice, north of country’s capital Prague, will host the four day festival of swimming from 1-4 August, with Europe’s best junior athlete’s competing for continental open water honours.

Kent-based Maisie Macartney will spearhead the junior cohort of athletes, meeting up with the squad fresh off the back of making her senior World Championship debut in South Korea in July.

Another name to look out for is Hector Pardoe, who is one of the most experienced members of this junior team, having won two World Junior and one European Junior bronze medals.

Of the team selected British Swimming Marathon Lead, Bernie Dietzig, said:

This is really exciting group of swimmers and we are confident that it will be another successful event for Great Britain.”
