Open water swimmers to take on the world

Six open water swimmers are set to take on the best in the globe at the Open Water World Series and World Juniors next month.

Jack Burnell, Tobias Robinson and Jazz Carlin – all fresh from the European Championships at Loch Lomond, will all head to Chun’An, China to take on the 10km course on the 16th September.

Burnell has already picked up two medals in the World series, a bronze in Setubal and  a silver in the Seychelles.

Teenagers Polly Holden and Hector Pardoe, who both competed in the 5km race at Glasgow 2018, will be joined by Maisie Macartney, 16, for the World Junior Open Water Championships 2018 in Eilat, Israel from the 6th to 8th of September.

They will all compete over a 7.5km distance.

When Pardoe last competed in this event in 2016, he won a bronze medal over 5km in the 14-15 year old category. Great Britain also picked up a bronze in the 14-16 year old 4x1.25km event. Alice Dearing won the 10km event in the 18-19 year old category.
