Peaty impresses during heats in Glasgow

Triple World Champion Adam Peaty made an instant impact in the 100m Breaststroke heats on day one of the British Swimming Championships in Glasgow. 

Peaty (City of Derby) turned fastest in his heat and increased his lead with a powerful stroke over the final 50m. He goes into the final first and will be joined by world bronze medallist Ross Murdoch (University of Stirling) and Craig Benson (University of Stirling).

World Champion James Guy showed his class as he led the final heat of the 400m Freestyle from the first turn. The Millfield swimmer will go into tonight’s final as the fastest qualifier and will be followed by Stephen Milne (Perth City) and Timothy Shuttleworth (National Centre, Loughborough).

The women’s 200m Freestyle will see a close final tonight with the top four swimming close to each other. Georgia Coates (City of Leeds) grabbed lane four by winning heat five and will be pushed all the way by Jazz Carlin (National Centre, Bath) and City of Sheffield’s Ellie Faulkner.

Hannah Miley looked dominant in the heats of the 400m Individual Medley after winning her heat and securing first place in the overall rankings. For the final lanes five and six were claimed by Aimee Willmott (London Aquatics Performance Programme) and Georgia Coates.
