Relay stage set for Brits

9 Aug 2018

Britain’s hopes of picking up two further relay medals at Glasgow 2018 were supported as both the men’s and women’s 4 x 100m medley relay teams qualified in strong positions for tonight’s finals.

The men’s team, made up of Brodie Williams, James Wilby, Jacob Peters and Duncan Scott, were third fastest in qualifying, in a race that will give Adam Peaty the chance to complete the quadruple-gold feat for a third consecutive European Championships this evening.

The women’s team, of Kathleen Dawson, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor , Alys Thomas and Freya Anderson, did one better and qualified in the second fastest time.

Elsewhere in the final pool heats of the competition Max Litchfield, fresh from his bronze in the 200m IM, progressed to the final in second place  in the 400m IM race, with Mark Szaranek just missing out in 11th place and Tom Dean in 15th.

Holly Hibbott and Ellie Faulkner both made the final of the 400m freestyle race. The final session of swimming from Tollcross International Pool in Glasgow will take place from 4.45pm.
