Due to the current adverse weather conditions across Britain some eligible junior athletes may not arrive at the British Championships to swim their preferred event.
The Performance Leadership Group (“PLG”) met on the evening of 28th February 2018 to consider the implications to the 2018 European Junior Championships 4th – 8th July 2018, Helsinki, Finland, Selection Policy. In accordance with the Selection Policy General Conditions (G13) the PLG issues the following:-
“The published Selection Policy for the 2018 European Junior Championships contains reference to discretionary selections that can be made onto the final team, specifically through clauses 4.4 and 6.3. With British Swimming’s Performance Objective (clause 2.1) central to all selections under the selection policy British Swimming would like to state that these discretionary places can be assigned, at the complete discretion of the Head of Elite Development in consultation with the GB Head Coach to athletes who compete at the 2018 Edinburgh International Swim Meet/British Championships or who have been unable to attend the selection meet as outlined in 3.1 due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions.”
In all other respects the published policy applies.
