Sascha Kindred secured his place at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games with his performance at the British International Para-Swimming Meet.

By qualifying he was one of the oldest members of the ParalympicsGB team and was competing at his sixth Paralympic Games. In his final race of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Sascha showed his experience to come back through the field and win the 200m Individual Medley. He not only won back his Paralympic title from Beijing but lowered the world record in the process.
The winner of the Para-Swimming Athlete of the Year award is decided by our panel of judges and will announced during the British Swimming Awards in London on 5 November.
