Hynd on form in heats

Paralympic Champion Ollie Hynd (SM8) was on form in the Men's 200m Individual Medley during day two heats of the British Para-Swimming International in Sheffield.

Hynd topped the rankings in the Men's 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:27.80 and a points total of 850, which sees him lead the field into tonight's World Series final.

Paralympic champion Hannah Russell (S12) qualified for the Women’s 50m Freestyle finals in second with a time of 28 seconds, 886 points.

Russell was narrowly beaten to the finish by Uzbekistani S Toshpulstova (S13) who finished first with a time of 28.23, 908 points. In third came Lettica Martinez (S11) of the USA who recorded a time of 32.39, 853 points.

The Men’s 50m Freestyle heats were won by Britain’s Matthew Wylie (S9) after securing 884 points in a time of 26.18. Fellow Brit Jordan Catchpole (S14) also qualified, in third, after registering 858 points in a time of 25.83.

 Muzaffar Tursunkhujase (S13) continued good day for Uzbekistan in the heats after qualifying in second place with 872 points in a time of 24.28

The women’s 200m IM saw 14-year old Maisie Summers-Newton post a great score of 906 in 3:05.80, a new personal best to sit in the lead. 

In second place S Toshpulstova (S13) qualified with 869 points in 2:31.34, her second qualification to finals of the day, and in third Rebecca Meyers from the USA with 858 points in 2:31.97.
