Hynd Smashes World Record

Paralympic Champion Oliver Hynd broke his own 400m Freestyle World record on the penultimate night of finals at the British Summer Championships 2016 in Sheffield.

The S8 swimmer of Nova Centurion posted a time of 4:23.76 and a total of 1006 points which sealed him the win.

Silver went to S7 Michael Jones of Mount Kelly Swimming with 897 points and the bronze medallist was S12 Stephen Clegg (West Lothian) with 891 points.

Abbie Houston of City of Sheffield established an early lead and remained in control until the close in the 19+ years Women's 400m Freestyle.

She secured the gold ahead of Lucy McKenzie (Stockport Metro) and Amber Keegan (City of Sheffield), they collected silver and bronze respecitively.

Stockport Metro’s Holly Hibbott who was first to the touch 400m Freestyle gold in the 17/18 years age group for her.

In the 16 years age group final of the Women’s 400m Freestyle European junior medallist Tazmin Pugh of (Ellesmere College Titans) pushed away from the rest of the finals field and secured herself the gold medal.

Annalea Davison (Newcastle Swim Team) saw off a late challenge to her lead as she finished in top spot of the 15 years 400m Freestyle final.

In the 13/14 years age group final it was the City of Leeds swimmer Tia Ward who took gold.

Tristan Slater of Millfield School was the victor in the 19+ years final of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley final. He finished his four laps of the Ponds Forge pool.

Silver was claimed by Fraser Minnican of Loughborough University and bronze for Martyn Walton from the University of Stirling

Doncaster Dartes’s Joe Litchfield was on fine form and delivered a dominant finals swim to win the national age group honour in the 17/18 years category.

Nathan Hughes (Hatfield) demonstrated his power in the distance events to win the gold medal in the 16 years age group final.

Warrender Baths swimmer Archie Goodburn made another podium topping appearance this time in the Men’s 15 years final of the 200m IM final.

Charlie Hutchinson (Ellesmere College Titans) continued his good form and collected another gold. The 13/14 years finalist claimed top spot in the 200m Individual Medley event.

Paralympic Champion Eleanor Simmonds (S6) (Boldmere) posted the top points total of 925 in the final of the Women’s MC 400m Freestyle final to take the British Summer Championship gold.

Simmonds was flanked on the Ponds Forge podium by S8 swimmer Stephanie Millward (Corsham) in silver with 910 points and Northampton’s Eleanor Robinson (S6) in bronze with 867.

Emma Day (Loughborough University) owns the swim and sealed herself a summer championship gold for the 19+ years 200m Individual Medley.

Day touched home ahead of Candice Hall (City of Leicester) and Emily Jones (Edinburgh University.

Katie Matts of Stockport Metro sealed a god medal as she touched home first in the 17/18 years 200m Individual Medley final.

City of Guildford swimmer Alicia Wilson placed herself at the top of the rankings in the 16 years age group final to and sealed herself the national title for 2016.

Ciara Schlosshan (City of Leeds) sealed gold in the 15 years 200m Individual Medley final.

City of Leeds’s Tia Ward returned to the pool for her second final of the night and placed herself on top of the podium again, gold for her in the 13/14 years age group final.

David Cumberlidge (Edinburgh University) topped the rankings after the single lap splash and dash of the Men’s 19+ years 50m Freestyle.

He finished ahead of Yesuke Legard of Wycombe District and Daniel Speers of Millfield School.

European Games Champion Thomas Fannon (Plymouth Leander) edged ahead of the field as he took gold in the 17/18 years of the 50m Freestyle. Southport’s Lewis Burras soared to victory in the Men’s 16 years 50m Freestyle.

In the 15 years final Sam Dailey of Plymouth Leander sealed gold for the south coast club.

Kyo Tanner (Preston) stormed to victory in the 13/14 years 50m Freestyle final which saw the medals come right down to the touch.

European medallist Kathleen Dawson returned to the summer championships pool and claimed another national honour in the 19+ years Women’s 50m Backstroke final.

Dawson picked up her medal alongside Lucy Hope (Edinburgh University) and Kirsty Simpson (City of Aberdeen).

City of Peterborough swimmer Mollie Allen was on golden form and won her final the in the 17/18 year age group. Anna Maine (Woking) was first to stop the clock in the 16 years Women’s 50m Back.

Heart of Midlothian’s Alexandra Waller was top in the 15 years age category and picked up gold. Cerea Barber collected a medal for Hillingdon swimming club as she took top spot on the podium in the 13/14 years 50m Backstroke final.

In the Men’s 4x100m Free Relays it was the quartet from Hatfield that took the top prize in the 14/16 years final and in the 17+ years race Millfield School collected the national title.

The Ellesmere College Titans team secured the golden honour in the 14/16 years 4x100m Free Relay. To round off day five heats in Sheffield Stockport Metro collected the title in the 17+ years final.
