Hannah Russell booked a spot in two finals with some impressive heat swims on day six of the Glasgow 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships at Tollcross.

The 18-year old S12 swimmer began her morning by ‘swimming up’ in classification in the S13 100m Freestyle, winning her heat in 1:01.27 to progress fifth fastest overall.

Russell returned to the water later in the session against her own class in the S12 50m Freestyle heats, again touching first in her heat in 27.93 to qualify fastest ahead of Russia’s Darya Stukalova (27.99).

Having landed his second gold of the meet with a world record in the S8 400m Freestyle last night, Oliver Hynd was back in action in the S8 100m Backstroke heats.

The 20-year old, who won bronze in this event at the previous World Championship in Montreal two years ago, progressed third fastest in 1:07.15.

IPC Swimming World Championship debutante Alice Tai was the only other Brit competing in the penultimate heats session, narrowly missing out on the S10 100m Freestyle final as she finished ninth overall in 1:04.73 with Mexico’s Steffany Cristino Zapata sealing the eighth and final qualification spot on 1:04.41.
