"We have been really lucky to have loyal supporters"

- Sascha Kindred

They will be joined for the prestigious competition by World Champions Amy Marren, Hannah Russell and Sascha Kindred.

With the European Championships only two months away the Brits are back into hard training preparing to continue their strong performance from the World Championships in Montreal last year.

For Kindred Eindhoven will be his sixth European Championships and with over 50 international medals under his belt he will be wanting to show he still a force in international Para-Swimming at the age of 36.

“I swam in my first Euros in 1995 and won a gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke,” Kindred said. “I’m really looking forward to competing in my sixth European Championships. I can’t wait to race and try to add to the 20 European Championship medals I’ve already won.

“We have been really lucky to have loyal supporters and with tickets for Eindhoven only costing under £5 I hope that more people will get behind us in the competition.”

Marren will be competing at her first European Championships and having already won four gold medals at the World Championships will be eager to learn all she can about her European competitors ahead of Rio.

“I’m really looking forward to the European Championships this summer,” Marren said. “As well as giving me some more international experience before Rio it’s also giving me the opportunity to see how a European Championships will work as I have done all of my competitions backwards.

“The support that we receive is really important to the way we perform and I hope that as many people as possible will get behind the British athletes and cheer us all on all the way.”
