World Records for Fox and Millward in Sheffield

Jonathan Fox secured gold and broke the Men’s S7 100m Backstroke World record on day two of the British Summer Championships in Sheffield.

Fox posted a time of 1:09.15 and a points total of 1016 to set the new record and seal himself the multi-class gold medal.

Silver went to Nova Centurion’s Ollie Hynd with 893 points and bronze went to City of Sheffield’s James Crisp with 846 points.

Steph Millward posted another world leading time in the final of the Women’s MC 100m Backstroke on her way to gold after setting a new S8 World record of 1:12.94 and 1060 points in the heats.

Bethany Firth (S14) (Newcastle) finished with 999 points for silver and Hannah Russel (S12) (City of Manchester) with 983 points for bronze.

Kathleen Dawson was victorious in the Women’s 19+ years final of the Women’s 100m Backstroke as she secured gold and the national title. Dawson finished ahead of Elizabeth Simmonds (Bath University) in silver and Jessica Fullalove (Manchester Aquatics) in bronze.

Gold went to Chloe Golding of Ellesmere College Titans in a close finish to the 17/18 years final of the 100m Backstroke. Anna Maine (Woking) sealed gold in the 16 years age group final.

Gold in the 15 years final was claimed by the Heart of Midlothian swimmer Alexandra Waller. Amie Philot of Team Ipswich came out on top in a close finish to the Women’s 13/14 years 100m Backstroke final.

Cameron Brodie of the University of Stirling is the fastest man in 19+ years final of the 200m Butterfly. Brodie was accompanied on the podium by the University of Bath’s Jay Lelliott and Michael Gunning of London Aquatics.

Ryan Brown (City of Glasgow) comfortably led the 17/18 years final from start to finish to and secured gold in Sheffield. Poole swimmer Jacob Peters dominated the race and sealed himself gold in the 16-years 200m Butterfly final.

After two silvers on the opening night of the meet, Archie Goodburn (Warrender Baths) secured his third medal of the 2016 British Summer Championships as he took the gold in the 15-years final.

Ellesmere College Titans swimmer Charlie Hutchinson storms to victory in the 13/14 years 200m Butterfly final as he distanced himself from the rest of the field.

Emma Day (Loughborough University) demonstrated consistency as she qualified fastest from the heats in the 19+ year’s age group to go bag herself the gold medal in day two final.

Silver went to Loughborough University team-mate Jocelyn Ulyett and bronze to Emily Jones of Edinburgh University.

Stockport Metro swimmer Katie Matts eased to victory in the Women’s 17/18 years 200m Breaststroke final. Layla Black touched home first to claim another domestic title for the City of Leeds, this time in the 16-years age group.

Freya Anderson (Ellesmere College Titans) secured her second gold medal in Sheffield this time the 15-years 200m Breaststroke final. Summer Champs gold went to Rebecca Clynes of City of Leeds in the Women’s 13/14 years age group.

University of Stirling swimmer Charlie Boldison powered to a decisive win in the Men’s 19+ years 100m Backstroke final.

Boldison finished ahead of Joesph Hulme (Bath University) and Joe Elwood (Loughborough University).

Elliot Clogg of City of Sheffield claimed his second gold of the meet with a strong swim in the Men’s 17/18 years 100m Backstroke final. In the 16-years final Nicholas Pyle (Newcastle Swim Team) came out on top to take the gold.

Leighton Mayers (Ellesmere College Titans) collected his second top honour of event as he took gold in the Men’s 15-years 100m Backstroke. In the 13/14 years final Bridgend County swimmer Ioan Evans touched first to claim gold.

Anna Hopkin (Bath University) saw off a talented field of athletes to secure top of the podium in the Women’s 19+ years 50m Butterfly final.

Hopkin was accompanied on the podium by Stockport Metro’s Emma Gage who took silver and Beth Aitchison of Loughborough in the bronze medal berth.

Edinburgh University’s Tain Bruce powered home to victory finishing first over the single length race of the Ponds Forge pool in Sheffield to took gold in the 17/18 years 50m Butterfly final.

Anna Fleming (City of Glasgow) was the golden girl in the 16 years final with a new British Age Group record of 27.28. European Junior medallist Emily Large of Newcastle Swim Team took top spot in the 15-years final.

Pia Murray (Ellesmere College Titans) secured gold in a new 14-years British Age Group record of 27.80 in Women’s 13/14 years final.

Charlie Attwood returned to the top of the Summer Champs podium to collect his second gold, this time in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke final.

Silver went to Luke Davies (City of Birmingham) and bronze to Tristan Slater (Millfield).

City of Oxford’s David Murphy finished first for another national honour, he top the rankings in the Men’s 17/18 years final.

A successful night continued for the City of Oxford team as Callum Smart also finished top his final, the 16-years age group. Oliver Taverner (Mount Kelly) came out on top in his 15-years age group final of the 50m Breaststroke.

In the 13/14 years final of the Men’s 50m Breaststroke RTW Monson’s Thomas Leman was first to the wall and collected gold.

The penultimate race of the night saw Rio-bound para-swimmer Eleanor Robinson (S6) of Northampton take gold in the Women’s MC 50m Butterfly with a final point’s total of 974.
