Para-swimmers poised for penultimate World Series test

25 May 2023

Thirteen British para-swimmers have headed across the channel to compete at the penultimate leg of the 2023 Citi Para Swimming World Series in Limoges, France.

Around 250 swimmers from 29 nations have headed to France, as the country gets set to host it's first ever Citi Para Swimming World Series event - one year out from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The three-day competition programme takes place across 26th-28th May in Limoges, a city four hours drive south of the French capital, at the Aquapolis complex. The pool itself has a recent history of hosting para-swimming competition, with the 'Championnats de France Handisport' hosted by the venue in 2021.

Among the British athletes competing is a mix of experience, with Ellie Challis spearheading the team following her World Series silver medal a fortnight ago in Berlin, while Oliver Carter, Poppy Maskill and Georgia Sheffield (pictured in header) all continue to sharpen their race day processes in the international arena ahead of this summer's World Championships in Manchester.

There is a prospective return to competitive action for Alice Tai, after injuries side-lined the Paralympic champion from earlier opportunities to feature in 2023, in addition to Zach Washington-Young - who recently shared insight on his swimming journey for Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day - getting back on the competition starting blocks for the first time since the World Series came to Sheffield in March.

Luke Batty, Tegan Davidson, Bruce Dee, Eliza Humphrey, Jack Milne, Megan Neave and Fern Sneddon complete the travelling squad with each respectively looking to further their own development by gaining race exposure among international peers.

Fans in the UK can watch heats (8am) and finals (4pm) on the Citi Para Swimming World Series France live stream each day, with start lists and results on the official event website.
