Sheffield's the stage for British Diving Championships 2022

29 Apr 2022

The best of British Diving will showcase their skills as the 2022 British Diving Championships head to Sheffield next month.

Our flagship domestic diving event will follow hot on the heels of the recent British Swimming Championships in taking place at the popular Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, from 27th-29th May.

The competition will play a key role in selections for British teams in 2022, including the one for June's World Aquatics Championships in Budapest and Rome's European Championships, which take place in August.

This year's British Diving Championships - the first to be contested since January 2020 - will also see athletes from across the country competing for national titles across 1m and 3m springboard and 10m platform contests, in individual and synchronised events.

Entries are now open for the event. Click here to enter and here to visit the event page.

After the successes of the British National Diving Cup and Elite Junior Diving Championships already in 2022, and with an exciting international event also set to take place in the UK in May, the British Championships are the latest chance for senior and junior divers to perform in the arena, whether they are targeting World Championships, Commonwealth Games, European Championships, junior international competitions or building towards the Olympic Games of Paris 2024 or LA 2028.

We are pleased to confirm that the Ponds Forge event will be the first senior domestic diving event in more than two years to admit spectators, with ticket information to be communicated in due course. For those not able to attend, livestream coverage of every session will be available across British Swimming channels.

Speaking about the announcement of the 2022 British Diving Championships, British Swimming Head Coach of Olympic Diving Alexei Evangulov said: "After the past two years, it is fantastic to have a busy diving calendar back - and these British Diving Championships at Ponds Forge are a big part of that.

"We are looking forward to seeing how our athletes perform in an event that is an important part of our selection process for the World Championships and Europeans, as well as watching the next generation of British Diving talent, as their progress continues. Finally, we are so pleased to be able to get spectators back in the stands at this event. The diving community has pulled together brilliantly in recent times, and having friends, family and fans cheering the divers on again is something we are really looking forward to."

Look out for news on another exciting upcoming diving event, which will be announced across British Swimming's website and social media channels in the coming days.
