Following a public vote Olympic medallist, World, European and Commonwealth Champion Duncan Scott has been announced as The National Lottery Awards Athlete of the Year.
Duncan, who has had a standout 2018 season that saw him become the most successful Scot ever at a single Commonwealth Games after he claimed six medals.
More recently the 21-year-old represented Great Britain at the Glasgow 2018 European Championships where he soared to more medal glory including three continental titles.
Duncan said: “It is a real honour to be named ‘Athlete of the Year’ at this year’s National Lottery Awards. Without the support of National Lottery funding, I would never have achieved as much as I have in the pool.
“It’s fantastic for both me and swimming to recognised in this way, shining the light on the positive impact that funding is having on our sport.”Find out more about Duncan Scott and his swimming achievements here
