13 Feb 2020

The selection policy for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo has now been published to the British Swimming website.

The 2020 Paralympics (26th August - 4th September) mark the 16th summer edition of the competition, with Tokyo becoming the first city to host the championships for a second time, having previously done so in 1964. To date, ParalympicsGB athletes have secured 681 medals in the pool, with the newly-published selection policy outlining the criteria for swimmers to be nominated for the opportunity to add to Great Britain's tally later this year.

With the aim of being fully inclusive, British Swimming have released the selection policy for the 2020 Paralympic Games in a number of formats, making it available in PDF, PDF large print and audio versions.

The qualification meet outlined for selection consideration is the British Para-Swimming International Meet (BPSIM), which doubles up as a World Series event. Taking place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, the meet runs from 9th - 12th April, with entries and spectator tickets launched last month.

British Para-Swimming Head Coach Rob Aubry provides a short video introduction to the selection policy below, highlighting a number of key points. Qualifying times for each event will be released in early March, following the Italian leg of the World Para Swimming Series.
