England’s senior men’s water polo team secured a 9-4 victory over Scotland at the British Water Polo League International, held at Ponds Forge on Saturday 11th February.
The England team set the tone for the match early on with fast paced counter attacks and the scoreboard at the end of the first quarter showing in in England’s favour, 2-0.
At halftime the English team, who are in the process of finalising their preparations for the Commonwealth tournament to be held in Malta from March 22-30 September, had extended their lead to 5-0.
However their Scottish opponents were not deterred and slipped one in to the back of the net during extra time for a man-up chance.
In the second half Scotland came back strong to claim through more goals but the England pulled no punches and dominated the match to its close.The final score was 9-4 in England’s favour.
