Another fantastic day of Water Polo action at the Aberdeen Sports Village brought tension and drama as the competition gathered momentum.
The England Women showed why they are one of the tournament favourites with a convincing win over Wales in the first match of the day.
With a host of Team GBR players on the team the English dominated the Welsh, conceding just once in a comfortable 35-1 (8-1, 6-0,11-0, 10-0) win.
Kathryn Fowler and Rosie Huck scored five goals each and Chloe Wilcox took six as their team’s counter attacking play was too much for the Welsh.
The second women's match of the day saw Canada kick off their Commonwealth campaign with a similarly convincing win over Scotland.
The Scotland Women found festively named pair Kyra Christmas and Amy Yule in fine form as they jingled their way to a 23-3 (9-0, 6-3, 4-0, 4-0) win.
It was then time for the Men to play their second round of games, with the crowd hoping for some closer contests.
First up were the hosts Scotland against Malta. The Scots, in front of another capacity crowd, started strongly but Malta forward Nikki Lanzon continued his excellent goal scoring form and helped Malta to make it two wins out of two with a 18-7 (4-2, 3-2, 5-2, 6-1) victory.
The fourth game of the day saw Singapore play their first game of the tournament against Wales. It proved to be a battle of the two centre forwards as Wales’ Dan Laxton went up against Singapore’s Lin Diyang, with Laxton scoring seven of his team’s 12 goals in a tense 12-12 (4-3, 2-4, 3-2, 3-3) draw.
The final game of the day saw well known sporting rivals New Zealand and South Africa face each other. Both teams were looking for a win after disappointing losses on the first day, but struggled to break each others defence. In a close match the game ended 6-6 (1-1,3-2, 1-1, 1-2).
