DAY FOUR

WOMEN'S 3m SPRINGBOARD FINAL

It was yet another close battle at the Royal Commonwealth Pool between two of Great Britain's top divers, as City of Sheffield Diving Club's Yasmin Harper went toe-to-toe with City of Leeds Diving Club's Katherine Torrance for the title.

It was Harper who controlled the pace of the event with a series of consistent dives; never adding below 60 points to her total every time she stepped on to the boards. Her Back 2 1/2 Somersaults Pike (205B) in the second round gave her 69.00 points and set the pace for the rest of the field, which ultimately proved to be too much for them.

Torrance put up a spirited fight, as a 72.00-scoring Reverse 2 1/2 Somersaults Pike (305B) gave her the highest single-dive score of the entire final in the penultimate round, which put her just six points behind Harper with one round to go.

It was the 22 year-old who held her nerve, though, as she went on to claim the gold medal with an Inward 2 1/2 Somersaults Pike (405B); scoring her 64.50 points on her way to a 318.45 total. Torrance also went over the 300 point mark as she took the silver with a score of 304.90, with Sweden's Elna Widerström taking the bronze medal thanks to a total of 296.50.

Dive London Aquatics Club's Scarlett Mew-Jensen (279.35)  was also given a bronze medal as the third-highest British finisher.

MEN'S 10m PLATFORM PRELIMS

It's a Dive London Aquatics Club 1-2-3-4 ahead of this afternoon's final, Matthew Dixon got the better of his teammates to lad himself that elusive last place in the running order for what will be a tight showdown to finish the competition.

Dixon took advantage of a dip in form from Thursday's 10m Synchro champion Kyle Kothari on the penultimate dive to leap frog ahead of the 25 year-old with one round remaining. He then held his nerve with a Forward 4 1/2 Somersaults Tuck (109C) on the final round to see him top the standings on 412.50 points.

Kothari still managed to qualify in second thanks to some high-scoring dives on the first, third, and fourth rounds - including an impressive 83.20 score on his Inward 3 1/2 Somersaults Tuck (407C), which saw him top at the halfway stage, before finishing on 403.00 points.

Rounding out the top three qualifiers for the final was Noah Williams, with the diver making the most of his 81.00-scoring Back 2 1/2 Somersaults 2 1/2 Twists Pike (5255B) on the first round, before continuing a consistent showing to finish on 402.45 ahead of the showdown later today.

Birch's Forward 3 ½ Somersaults Pike (107B) on the penultimate round, despite a huge reception from the crowd, was not enough to see her hold on to the gold as she had to settle for silver, as City of Leeds Diving Club's Lois Toulson took the bronze.

DAY ONE

WOMEN'S & MEN'S 10m SYNCHRO

The first day of the British National Diving Cup 2023 saw some strong performances from the synchro pairings of Kyle Kothari & Ben Cutmore, and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix & Lois Toulson. Both sets of athletes took gold in their 10m Synchro finals, the latter fighting off strong competition to take the win.

Spendolini-Sirieix (Dive London Aquatics) and Toulson (City of Leeds Diving Club) made their first synchro outing together since their momentous Women's 10m Synchro gold at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome last summer, and the recently-new pairing made an impression in the Scottish capital - scoring a strong 298.80, with their Back 2 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Pike (5253B) scoring 73.92 on the final round of dives. That helped keep them clear of Dive London duo Robyn Birch and Emily Martin (270.30), as they took silver, with Edinburgh Diving Club's Libby Duke and Ellen Gillespie (201.87) taking bronze.

Dive London Aquatics' Kothari and Cutmore were the sole pairing in the Men's 10m Synchro final, but they were not at all fazed as soloists as they put together a strong back end of dives - culminating in a Back 2 1/2 Somersaults 2 1/2 Twist Pike (5253B), which scored 75.60 to give them a total of 402.99.
